Seats up for election
Of the 33 regularly scheduled elections in 2024, 10 seats are held by Republicans, 20 seats are held by Democrats and three seats are held by independents who caucus with Democrats.
One special election is also scheduled for November 5, 2024. The special election will be held to fill the last two years of the six-year term that Ben Sasse (R) was elected to in 2020. Sasse resigned from the U.S. Senate on January 8, 2023, after being appointed president of the University of Florida.[2][3][4]
