The Texas Farm Products Property Tax Exemption Amendment was not on the ballot in Texas as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment on November 7, 2023.[1]

The amendment would have authorized the state legislature to define farm products and in the hands of the producer as it relates to property tax exemptions.[2]

To put a legislatively referred constitutional amendment before voters, a two-thirds (66.67%) vote is required in both the Texas State Senate and the Texas House of Representatives.

This amendment was introduced as House Joint Resolution 141 on March 15, 2023. It included two constitutional amendment questions. The other question is related to property tax exemptions for rainwater harvesting and greywater system installation. On May 8, 2023, the state House passed HJR 141 by a vote of 129-2 with 19 not voting.[1]
