State legislative elections, 2007

The 2007 state legislative elections consisted of only four states holding general elections -- Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey and Virginia.

Only the lower chambers held elections, meaning a total of 578 seats were up for election. There are 1,971 state senate seats and 5,413 state house seats in state legislatures. Altogether, 578 of the country's 7,384 state legislative seats were up for re-election in 2009.

Louisiana

Elections were held in all 105 of Louisiana 's House districts on November 6, 2007. All 39 senators were up for election as well.

Mississippi

Elections were held in all 122 of Louisiana 's House districts on November 6, 2007. All 52 senators were up for election as well.

New Jersey

Elections were held in all 80 of New Jersey's Assembly districts on November 6, 2007. All 40 senators were up for election as well.

Virginia

Elections were held in all 80 of Virginia's House districts on November 6, 2007. All 40 senators were up for election as well.
