Laws governing ballot measures in Iowa
The Iowa State Legislature may place measures on the ballot as legislatively referred constitutional amendments. A simple majority vote in each chamber during two successive legislative sessions is required to refer an amendment to the ballot.
The Iowa Constitution requires a constitutional convention question appear on the ballot every 10 years.
