Laws governing ballot measures in Arizona
Citizens of Arizona may initiate legislation as constitutional amendments and state statutes. In Arizona, citizens also have the power to repeal legislation via veto referendum.
The Arizona State Legislature may place measures on the ballot as legislatively referred constitutional amendments or legislatively referred state statutes. Referred amendments and statutes require a simple majority vote from each chamber during one legislative session.
The Arizona Constitution also allows for the state legislature to call a constitutional convention only if a constitutional convention question is placed on the ballot and approved by voters.
