Editorial independence

In order to protect the best encyclopedic, journalistic, and business interests of our organization, Ballotpedia retains full authority over its editorial content. Acceptance of financial support does not constitute implied or actual endorsement of donors or their products, services, or opinions.

We accept gifts, grants, and sponsorships from individuals and organizations for the support of our activities. Our judgments about encyclopedic and journalistic content are made independently through our editorial process and not on the basis of donor support or advertising clients.

Ballotpedia has received and expects to continue to receive donations to support the coverage of particular topics, investigations, and events. However, Ballotpedia maintains editorial control of this coverage. We provide no right of review or influence of editorial content. We are not responsible for instances of unauthorized distribution of our editorial content.

Ballotpedia accepts anonymous donations only when it is clear to Ballotpedia’s senior management that sufficient safeguards have been put into place to ensure our editorial independence.
